Black Tie?!

Dear Guests,

We have had multiple queries as to what it means to be Black tie. Traditionally, when formal events take place on a Saturday after 6 in the evening, ladies wear an evening gown and men a tuxedo. This is referred to as "Black tie." Since we are getting more and more casual as a society, it has become a kind reminder to designate "Black tie" on an invitation, as suggested to us by our many vendors.

There is an even more formal dress code known as "White tie." In this case, ladies would wear ball gowns and men would wear tails on their coats. Perhaps it would be fun to attend one of these events one day and if you certainly feel up to it, please feel free to don such attire.

One of our guests made a great suggestion to get registered at a tuxedo shop, especially since many men will have to put on their first ever tux. Although we haven't done so yet, we will be registering at Men's Warehouse so that any wedding party discounts can be passed on to you.

We will be updating this post with more information about our tuxedo registry.

UPDATE: We visited Men's Warehouse today and were told that there are no additional discounts offered for being part of a wedding party. We're really sorry, but we tried, we really did. For those who would like to rent a tux, MW offers rentals for $49.

As a reminder, please feel free to ask any any questions you have. We're certain that if you have a question, there are many other guests who are also wondering the same thing.

-Greg and Michelle
